NASHVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) — Officials at the Tennessee Department of Health confirmed that four influenza deaths have been reported during the 2019-2020 flu season.
Only pediatric and pregnant woman deaths due to influenza are reportable in Tennessee, and all four of the confirmed deaths were pediatric patients, according to Elizabeth Hart, associate director of the Tennessee Office of Communications and Media Relations.
“Flu vaccine provides the best protection and is available for free at most local health departments (while supplies last),” Hart said. “Additionally, it is important to remember to not spread germs by staying home when sick, coughing/sneezing into a sleeve and practicing good hand hygiene by washing hands frequently.”
The Montgomery County Health Department is located at 330 Pageant Lane, and open from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. For information about free flu shots call them at (931) 648-5747.
