CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – On September 14, 2018, four officers with the Clarksville Police Department (CPD) were recognized for their actions during emergency situations and were each presented with Lifesaver Awards.
The award recipients are Officer Adam Post, Officer William Becker, Officer Michael Ciupka and Officer Morgan Baker.
The awards were presented for the following actions:
On April 13, 2018 Officers Michael Ciupka and Morgan Baker responded to a car versus motorcycle crash at the intersection of North Second Street and Riverside Drive. The motorcyclist had a severe leg injury and was losing blood rapidly. The officers were able to stop the man from losing blood. The individual was flown to Vanderbilt University Medical Center and survived his injuries.
On June 7, 2018 Officers Adam Post and William Decker responded to a suicide attempt by carbon monoxide poisoning. Officers arrived on scene and discovered a running vehicle inside of a locked garage. Officer Post forced his way into a barricaded garage door and found a man who was non-responsive inside a locked vehicle. The driver’s door was wedged against a wall, so the officers broke the windows of the car, opened the garage door, and pushed the vehicle outside. The victim was transported to Tennova Medical Center and survived.
“The actions of the officers bring great credit upon themselves, the Clarksville Police Department, and the City of Clarksville,” CPD spokesman Jim Knoll said.
