CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – The Kentucky Athletic Administrators’ Association recently honored several people for the impact they’ve had on interscholastic athletics with the Dr. Rudy J Ellis Distinguished Service Award, which included Fort Campbell’s own Donny Caver.

For the past 40 years, Caver has served as the statistician for a variety of sports at Fort Campbell High School. He told Clarksville Now after graduating high school himself, Hall of Fame coach Marshall Patterson came to him and asked him to fill the open position.

“I told him I would try,” Caver said. “Forty years later, I am still there and have added 32 years of basketball scorekeeping and 10 years of baseball score keeping. I have been able to help many coaches and make life-lasting friendships at FCHS, and I will continue this as long as they want me.”

Caver has had several highlights throughout his career, including when Fort Campbell won the state championship in three consecutive seasons (2007, 2008, 2009) under head coach Shawn Berner. He was invited to Patterson’s Hall of Fame induction ceremony in March 2016.

In addition to his position at Fort Campbell High, Caver has been active in Little League, where he coached baseball for 27 years at Stokes Field. During his time coaching Northwest Little League, he won six state titles and participated in the Southeast regional tournament six times.
