FORT CAMPBELL, KY (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – Fort Campbell remembered and honored those service members who have made the ultimate sacrifice during a wreath laying ceremony on Memorial Day, Monday, May 31.
The wreath was placed by the commander of the 101st Airborne Division and Fort Campbell, Maj. Gen. JP McGee, and Command Sgt. Maj. Veronica Knapp at the eternal flame of the 101st at Division Headquarters.
Speaking to those gathered for the ceremony, McGee said Memorial Day is not simply about memorializing our honored dead in words or in symbolic acts. It is recognition for the service and sacrifice of our fallen and using the recognition to drive our actions, to make our division, our Army, and our country worthy of the sacrifices of the fallen.
