CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – Fort Campbell High girls’ wrestling competed in their state tournament this weekend against 82 other teams.

The Lady Falcons finished in fourth place after several of their student-athletes placed top 10 in their weight classes.

According to Fort Campbell Head Coach Anthony Shingler, Savannah Ziegler and Maddie Hebert became the second and third two-time state medalist for the Fort Campbell girls’ wrestling program.

“We are continuing to move forward with the trajectory of the program,” said Shingler. “I’m extremely proud of this group of young women. I have had a blast coaching them, building relationships with them and will miss the kids that move on through graduation and PCSing.

“The bond this group has is very strong and I couldn’t be happier for them to come together to give themselves a chance in the post season to compete for a state championship. Three months ago, 16 of the 19 girls on our team never stepped foot on a wrestling mat and they finish the year with a chance at winning it all,” said Shingler.

“The girls’ program can grow by continuing to develop this off-season and us hitting the hallways to recruit some of the missing weight classes we had this year. We have a lot of returners coming back and a full off-season worth of work to get ready for next season.”
