CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – Week two of the high school football season in Tennessee is upon us. By chance, this week features several games between old and new rivals. Let’s take a look at the matchups for week two.

Thursday, Aug. 28: Clarksville Academy Cougars (1-0) @ Fort Campbell Falcons (0-1)

The Cougars and Falcons will match up on the gridiron for the first time in 25 years. Clarksville Academy is coming off a huge blowout win over Hunters Lane, while Fort Campbell looks to rebound from their season-opening loss to Northwest.

The all-time series between the two programs is tied at 2-2 entering Thursday’s contest. The game is scheduled for a 7 p.m. start time.

Game of the Week: Rossview High Hawks (0-1) @ Kirkwood High Cobras (1-0)

The battle for Exit 8 is always a thrilling matchup between the new rivals of Rossview High and Kirkwood High.

The last time these two teams met up, it was a classic physical, defensive-heavy battle, which the Cobras narrowly pulled out. Major bragging rights and the rights to Rossview Road are on the line this Friday night. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. for all Friday night games.

West Creek Coyotes (0-1) @ Northeast Eagles (1-0)

The Coyotes and Eagles had two very different outcomes during week one but now meet up for a rivalry showdown in week two. After never beating Northeast before, West Creek is riding a two-game win streak in this rivalry and looks to continue that on Friday night.

Clarksville High Wildcats (0-1) @ Springfield Yellow Jackets (1-0)

The 102nd edition of the Battle of the Bridge, one of the oldest rivalries in Tennessee, features two of the best programs in the mid-state on Friday Night.

Clarksville High fell to Blackman in their season opener, while Springfield took care of Rossview in a road test last week.

Montgomery Central Indians (0-1) @ East Hickman County Eagles (0-1)

After falling in a one score game during week one against Sycamore, the Indians have their second straight road game at East Hickman to start their season.

Both teams are looking to add their first victory in the win column on Friday.

Kenwood Knights (1-0) @ White House-Heritage Patriots (1-0)

Kenwood’s second straight road game to start their season will be a tough opponent in the Patriots, coached by former Clarksville Academy head coach Murf Murray.

The Knights will rely heavily on quarterback Christian James, who had 14 carries for 151 yards against Hillsboro last week.

Northwest Vikings (1-0) @ Wilson Central Wildcats (1-0)

After a convincing victory over the Falcons in week one, the Vikings have another road trip to Wilson Central in week two.

The Wildcats opened their season with a 33-14 victory over Cane Ridge and will also look to go 2-0 to start their season.
