MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Tenn. – Montgomery County Jail inmates had the chance to learn more about Jesus Saturday as Fly Right Ministry paid a visit.
“We entertained them, testified to them about ourselves and share God’s word through our volunteer counselors,” said Jim Harris, founder of Fly Right, Inc.
Harris himself is an ex-offender who left the Texas Department of Corrections a changed man in 1996. Now, he’s dedicated to changing the lives of inmates throughout the country by helping them come to know Jesus Christ and reduce recidivism by helping change their behavior.
“We visit about 6 jails a year, and that number is growing,” Harris said. “We hope to return to Montgomery County Jail in the future.”
The ministry uses singers, athletes and, at times, ex-convicts to share their powerful message. Today, world-renowned weightlifting champion Paul Wrenn visited with the inmates.
“This is my calling,” Harris said. “God has given me a vision.”
Sheriff John Fuson said he was happy that such a program existed, and was willing to visit our county’s inmates.
“Programs like this are integral to help our inmates make better life choices once they leave our care,” said Sheriff John Fuson. “I hope the inmates, today, leave this program with a drive to change their lives for the better.”
