NASHVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – The family of a man who was killed when a concrete slab hit his vehicle on I-24 has increased the reward for information leading to an arrest, according to WKRN.

54-year-old Joe C. Shelton Jr. of Pleasant View was killed Nov. 20 while he was driving on I-24 near downtown Nashville. He was traveling to his job at a Nissan plant in Smyrna.

Tennessee Transportation Department bridge inspectors determined the concrete was not part of the nearby Shelby Avenue Bridge. Detectives are having the 23-pound chunk of concrete analyzed to try to find out where it came from.

Anyone with information is eligible to receive the $10,000 reward that was posted by the family, plus Crime Stoppers is offering an additional $1,000. Call Nashville Crime Stoppers at 615-742-7463.

A reward fundraiser for the Shelton family, sponsored by Streetside Classics, will be held Saturday, Dec. 15 from 1-5 p.m. at 6000 Reliance Drive in LaVergne.
