CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – Recent changes in Tennessee State law have meant drastic changes for the CBD industry here in Clarksville. With the rapid growth and increasing demand for CBD (cannabidiol) still leaves many questions unanswered.
How can CBD be used? What is CBD used for medically? Who could benefit from using CBD products in their daily routine?
With a product that’s so new to the market and that wasn’t legalized until 2014, it’s left many Clarksville residents with numerous concerns. The health benefits, legal consumption, and side effects of CBD products are often called into question. Local professionals, as well as leaders in the industry, have offered their knowledge on the subject.
Yvonne Chamberlain, Owner of The Tree of Life, was one of the first business owners in Clarksville to carry products containing the chemical CBD.
“This is a people driven, community driven type of movement going forward, so it’s not a marketed type of product,” Chamberlain said. This is why she made the decision to make the once controversial product available to her customers.
Unlike many other local crops, hemp is able to be grown all year round in relatively small greenhouses. The time from planting-to-harvest can be as little as a few months, according to Jeff Barber, a local hemp farmer and owner of Your Hemp Farmacy.
He began his operation in 2013 and has continued to grow since then. It is one of the few indoor hemp farms in the State of Tennessee and the crop produced by Your Hemp Farmacy is distributed not only worldwide, but to local CBD shops who are also able to purchase this wholesale product.
Canna 365 and Emerald City, two retail stores to open since the growing popularity of CBD increased here in Clarksville, answered questions pertaining to the health benefits and the legality of the new product and what they have seen thus far from consumers in Clarksville.
Continued education on this emerging agriculture and commercial industry is necessary for lawmakers and general consumers alike. Homeopathic remedies and the resurgence of natural living only stands to bolster the CBD trend.
