Elinor Howell Thurman died after a brief illness, Saturday, January 18, 2014, at St. Thomas Hospital West. She was born January 6, 1937, in Clarksville, to the late Hazel Howell Thurman and William Barnes Thurman.
Miss Thurman, a graduate of Clarksville High School and Austin Peay State University, worked for many years at the APSU library. She loved her cats, her books, her garden, her needlework, and the study of genealogy. She was a member of the Plantagenet Society, the Magna Charta Dames, the Meriwether Society, the Colonial Order of the Crown, and numerous other historical societies.
Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, January 20, 2014, at Greenwood Cemetery, with The Rev. Mickey Richaud officiating. No visitation is planned.
Memorial donations may be made to the Clarksville-Montgomery County Public Library, 350 Pageant Lane, Clarksville, TN 37040.
