ROBERTSON COUNTY, Tenn. — An employee of Electrolux Springfield has died after contracting the coronavirus, a company spokesperson told Clarksville Now news partner WKRN-Channel 2 Thursday morning.

Eloise Hale with Electrolux North America said the company learned Wednesday that a 64-year-old worker at the Springfield facility had died following a COVID-19 diagnosis.

No additional information was released about the employee, but Hale said multiple safety measures, including daily fogging and disinfecting, have been put in place to prevent the spread of the virus at Electrolux, which has many Clarksville employees. The facility has also been shut down multiple times for cleaning, she added.

In a document obtained by Clarksville Now, Electrolux said the worker who died was a man who’d worked at the plant since 2006.

The employee was last at work on Aug. 1 and two moments of silences were scheduled today, Aug. 13, at 9 a.m. and 9:30 a.m. out of respect for the worker.

“Our commitment to your safety remains. There is daily disinfection, required physical distancing and masks, and temperature scans,” the letter said to Electrolux workers.

In another document, Electrolux said that “inaccurate information is being spread via social media regarding the health of other employees,” and encouraged the workers to utilize counseling services if they had concerns.
