CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – After seven years as head baseball coach at Clarksville Academy, Dustin Smith has announced he has resigned to take the same position with the Christian County High Tigers, who will play their first season this upcoming spring.

Smith was hired at Clarksville Academy in June 2019. He had much success during his time as the Cougars’ head skipper, winning a total of 113 games, making multiple state tournament appearances, signing several athletes to collegiate programs, and finishing as the TSSAA Division II-A state runner-up in 2025. The Cougars will now search for a replacement for one of their most successful head coaches.

“I really enjoyed all my time at Clarksville Academy,” Smith said. “I had great players who really worked hard to achieve the goals we set forth. Those relationships we built there will last a lifetime. Multiple state tournament appearances, along with the 2025 state runner-up team, show the work the young men put in.”

Smith said he is now excited for what is to come in Hopkinsville. “Being the first head baseball coach for the Christian County Tigers is a great opportunity,” he said. “I am blessed to be given the opportunity to continue the traditions that have been built in Hopkinsville. I am truly excited to hit the ground running and get started.”

The 2025-26 season was the final year Christian County High School and Hopkinsville High School played separately before consolidation at the new Christian County High School set for establishment next school year.
