CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – Congratulations are going out to David Jones from Clarksville High School, the Lanier Lawn and Landscaping Athlete of the Week. Jones, a senior, is an outstanding lacrosse player who recently signed with Rhodes College.
Jones is taking both his education and his sport to the next level and is the first lacrosse athlete from Clarksville to sign with an NCAA team. He has been playing lacrosse since the 7th grade and both Jones and his brother Daniel were founding members on the local team the Clarksville Kings.
The Clarksville teams include high school boys and girls, and middle school boys. The Clarksville Kings feature players from most of the area high schools including Fort Campbell as well as home school students. The Clarksville team also plays lacrosse teams all across Tennessee.
In 2014, Jones was ranked ninth in the nation (in Maxpreps) for number of goals scored. He has played position of attack and middle in lacrosse and he has also participated in other sports like baseball, football and wrestling, but his favorite is lacrosse.
