CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLENOW) – Local Korean Restaurant, Dae Bak ChopHouse, is reminding Clarksville residents what “united we stand” truly means.

Over the past week manager Tammy Lee Brown, who is also a veteran, and the owner, her mother, Yon Sun Smith, have delivered between 100-120 meals from their restaurant to essential employees at local health care centers including Tennova Hospital, Sango ER, Veterans Home, Montgomery County Health Department, and Blanchfield Fort Campbell Army Hospital.

“We are delivering food to healthcare professionals because they are on the frontline keeping us safe,” said Brown, whose sister is a registered nurse. “Some delivery services have refused to deliver to the hospitals at this time so we want to make sure nobody goes hungry.”

Brown and Smith have been impacted by the pandemic, as restaurants have been required to close their doors to the public. “COVID-19 has caused us to close for a few weeks to limit Mom’s exposure to the public since she is elderly,” Brown shared.

“We are very small and can’t afford the fees that delivery services charge, so we are trying to make the best of an uncertain situation by utilizing this period to make the meals for healthcare workers to show our appreciation.”

Each meal is personally delivered by Brown who, along with medical staff, is taking every precaution to stay the recommended 6-feet away, limit personal contact, clean and sanitize as necessary. Preparation and delivery of these meals has been made possible largely in part by the overwhelming support and donations from Dae Bak ChopHouse’s loyal customer base.

Dae Bak ChopHouse has been a staple of the Clarksville community for over three years now. To learn how you can support them in their efforts to continue providing meals for healthcare professionals contact Tammy Brown at Daebakchophouse@gmail.com or on their Facebook page, @DaeBakChopHouse.
