CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – The annual Flying High celebration of the arts will be held Saturday, June 1 at the Wilma Rudolph Event Center. For almost thirty-five years, the Customs House Museum & Cultural Center has served as the nexus for culture and history within the Clarksville-Montgomery County community.
Inspired by the hit AMC show “Mad Men,” this year’s theme will bring a new level of urbanity to the popular fundraiser. Attendees, dressed in formal period attire, will mingle in the cocktail party-like atmosphere, enjoy a smoke at the outdoor cigar bar, and show-off their American Bandstand moves on the dance floor.
But the theme doesn’t mean the night will be trapped in the past. For the first time in Flying High history, attendees will use their cell phones to bid on fine art, local VIP experiences, and town parties. Amazing gift packages for attendees to bid on, and we even have a Don and Betty Draper themed basket.
Where else can you see works by nationally recognized artists while also catching glimpses of Clarksville’s past? This June, see history and culture come alive at Flying High 2019: Mad for the Arts. Step back into the style and sophistication of the 1960s, during the museum’s annual fundraiser. Enjoy a night on the town meant for a dapper suit, a pair of stilettos and the clinking of cocktail glasses.
