CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – After the eight-story First Street Parking Garage opened in November 2024, the Cumberland Plaza Parking Garage next door was shut down for maintenance, and it’s been closed ever since. However, the City of Clarksville said in a press release on Monday that the parking garage will soon reopen to the public as they finish up with repairs.
Contractors will be re-sealing and re-striping the surface parking lot next to the Cumberland Plaza Parking Garage between Oct. 6 and 12. The surface lot will then reopen Monday, Oct. 13, along with the Cumberland Garage, according to city spokesperson Jimmy Settle.
Through these final stages of the project, parking will continue to be available in the adjoining First Street Parking Garage. Pedestrian access to the Montgomery County Courthouse will be maintained from Spring Alley, as well as Commerce Street.
The Cumberland Plaza renovation work began in early February, and includes:
- Lighting and electrical improvements.
- Concrete and masonry repairs.
- Storm drainage system repairs.
- Existing caulk joint removal and replacement.
- Deck cleaning, re-striping and new landscape.
- Installation of a traffic coating on all exposed decks.
Between the Cumberland Plaza Parking Garage, and the First Street Parking Garage, that area of downtown Clarksville will soon hold 789 spaces for the public. This includes 63 spaces on the surface lot of Cumberland Plaza.
