CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – As healthcare workers begin administering the COVID-19 vaccine in Clarksville-Montgomery County, the area has lost another 12 residents to the virus over the past week.
Since our last COVID-19 numbers update on Dec. 21, the death toll was 109. As of Monday, Dec. 28, the additional 12 lost this week brings the total number of COVID-19 deaths to 121, according to data from the Tennessee Department of Health.
TDH also reports there are currently 1,660 active cases of COVID-19, and the county has maintained at least 1,600 active cases since Friday, Dec. 18.
In other COVID-related news, County Mayor Jim Durrett extended the mask order through Jan. 29, and the Clarksville-Montgomery County School System announced Monday that the district will extend remote learning for all CMCSS students through Friday, Jan. 22.
Traditional students will report back for in-person learning on Monday, Jan. 25 if the case load and community spread rates reduce to a safer level.

How to get a free COVID-19 test
Free COVID-19 testing is offered by the Montgomery County Health Department in a temporary location at Civitan Park, 650 Bellamy Lane, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday-Friday. Drive-thru testing is offered on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and self-administered kits are now available on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. Follow the signs to the drive-up testing site.
