Friends of the seventh district, the upcoming elections are going to decide the future of this great nation for the next twenty years. In times like these, we have to make some decisions about who we, as Tennesseans, want to send to Washington to represent Tennessee values. I have known Matt Reel for nearly two decades and when I hear his voice and his positions, I know that on November sixth we will send Washington and 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue a message, that Tennessee means business when we send someone up there with our values and our commitment to making this nation better.
The representative we send from the seventh district must serve as a check and balance on the swampiest administration in American history. It will not be an easy fight, but Matt has spent a lifetime choosing the hard right over the easy wrong. He has not only served his country during three Special Forces deployments, he has the legislative experience to make sure he can hit the ground running when he gets up to Washington.
The person Democrats send to the general election will have to keep Republicans from taking away health care from the most vulnerable among us. More specifically, they want to do away with the law that says insurances have to cover pre-existing conditions like being pregnant or being a cancer survivor. My momma always said, “your sins will find you out.” And that is exactly what is happening with Republicans like Mark Green. His sins have been finding him out. After making millions in the health care industry Mark Green has spent years keeping health care benefits from Tennesseans, to include 54,000 veterans and their families.
As a fifth-generation Tennessean, who lives on his family farm, Matt knows that the tariffs issued by this administration are a tax on Americans and bad for Tennessee farmers. Implementing them under the pretense of national security is dishonest. Matt is the only candidate in this race who has expressed a plan to fix this problem because experience matters. Matt believes Congress should immediately impose the Corker-Toomey legislation. The bipartisan act passed a non-binding Senate vote 88-11 and is supported by the TN Chamber of Commerce, Automobile Dealers Association, Farm Bureau, and more than 270 other business and agriculture groups.
Matt’s republican opponent is a millionaire who just does not understand the struggle that veterans returning home from war endure. His opponent in the primary never served. Matt has come home from three deployments and knows first-hand the improvements that can be made to the VA system. He also believes that if you are going to vote to send our sons and daughters to war, that you should have some skin in the game. Matt plans to continue serving his nation after he is elected to Congress.
Matt Reel has come from a long line of preachers, public educators, and farmers. Like the founders of this great nation, Matt understands the importance of the servant-leader and he knows the selfless service that is required to be successful in this role. There is not a candidate in this entire race who knows more about what Tennesseans need than Matt Reel. As your leader, Matt will put country over party and people over politics. Let’s send someone to Washington who represents true Tennessee values this fall.
Signed
Representative Lincoln Davis [D-TN4, 2003-2010]
