NASHVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – The Tennessee Department of Health reported 18 confirmed cases of coronavirus (COVID-19) in Tennessee as of March 12. The number of confirmed cases has more than doubled in the last 24 hours, as officials race to stay ahead of what the WHO has labeled a global ‘pandemic’.

Health departments and medical centers across the state are preparing for the worst, as a mix of patients with potential symptoms, as well as residents responding in fear, are flooding doctors offices and health departments.

According to officials with Premier Medical Group, they are not testing for or treating potential cases of COVID-19 at this time. We are able to collect samples from patients, but only if deemed medically necessary by physician or provider. Samples are currently being sent to the Tennessee Department of Health.

Officials with Tennova Medical Center were unavailable for comment.

Governor Lee has issued a state of emergency for Tennessee.
