CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – (CLARKSVILLENOW) The Clarksville-Montgomery County Public Library hosted a community input meeting at Kenwood High School Tuesday. Around 70 citizens attended the meeting which was a chance to share their input and learn more about a proposed North Branch library.
The architectural firm HBM Architects conducted the meeting. It was an opportunity for the firm and the Library Board to gather public input on both what local citizens would like to see as far as a location and the design and construction of a branch library.
Those attending also saw the layout for three possible sites for the North Branch Library. Arrowood Drive between the Tennessee State Veterans Home and the Fort Campbell Boulevard Walmart, Fort Campbell Boulevard near the intersection of Lady Marion Drive and Little Bobcat Road, off of Tiny Town Road, near Barker’s Mill Elementary School.
Library Director, Martha Hendricks, commented on the proposed library branch in a press release about the meeting. “I continue to believe that this library expansion needs the public’s voice in several way to be successful, in giving input on what the library ultimately looks like, where it is located and providing the push to County Commissioners that this library is truly something the community wants.
The proposed North Branch Library is now in the early planning stages but Hendricks said she hopes to be able to present the whole package with conceptual drawings and pricing in February of next year. The next step would for land acquisition and design and Hendricks said it would be good to be able to start construction in 2018 but there is still a lot to be done.
This would be the public library’s first branch library ever outside the main library and is one of the first phases of a proposed expansion of services according to the Clarksville-Montgomery County Public Library’s strategic plan.
