You are one paycheck away from your power being turned off. No matter how hard you try, sometimes you just can’t make ends meet. For many in our community, living paycheck to paycheck is a way of life. Coupled with this is the stress and anxiety of paying rent, utility bills, groceries, etc. It doesn’t have to be that way. There is money available today to pay your upcoming electric bills. But you have to act fast, as this money is only accessible until June 29.

Community Action Agency has funding available through the Low-Income Home Energy Program (LIHEAP) to assist qualifying households with a credit towards their electric bill to offset rising costs this summer. LIHEAP is a federally funded grant program which Community Action Agency receives to assist the community.

Funding is still available for this year and must be requested before June 29. The Community Action Agency can still provide services to 600 households. Approved applicants could receive up to a $600 credit directly to their CDE or CEMC account. Regular LIHEAP should be viewed as a preventative assistance, this is not an emergency assistance solution.

Applicants must meet income eligibility. To see if you, or someone you know, qualifies call 931-896-1800. Applications should be submitted before the bill is due or becomes past due. In the event of an emergency, Crisis LIHEAP provides immediate assistance for past due bills, however funding is more limited and has stricter eligibility requirements than regular LIHEAP.

Don’t let your family, or someone you know, suffer in the summer heat. Contact the local office today at 931-896-1800.

About the Community Action Agency
The Clarksville-Montgomery County Community Action Agency has been serving low-income residents of Montgomery County since 1978. Each year the agency provides thousands of households with assistance towards their energy bills. In the winter, when heating costs rise, many find assistance with gas, propane and electric heat. Now that summer temperatures are already reaching the 90s air conditioning is struggling to keep up. For more information about the program, visit the CAA website.
