CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – Montgomery County officials honored County Commissioner and Clarksville-Montgomery County school teacher, Lettie Kendall at a reception Monday, August 4 at the courthouse. Kendall has made the decision to leave office as County Commissioner in 2014 and not seek reelection.
Kendall has served 42 years as County Commissioner for District 13 which is the longest tenure ever for a Montgomery County Commissioner. In 2011 she was recognized her as the longest serving commissioner in the state of Tennessee
She is also a former teacher and principal who was with the school system for close to 50 years having begun her teaching career in 1961. There is also a public park located in her neighborhood at 300 A Street named Lettie Kendall Park.
Members of Kendall’s family including her husband, Robert, her daughter, Sharon Kendall Roberson, son in law Dr. Clifford Roberson, daughter Dr. Yvonne Kendall and her grandson Clifford Roberson were on hand for the reception.
Montgomery County Mayor Carolyn Bowers and Sheriff John Fuson both recognized Kendall for her strong public and community service and commitment to Clarksville-Montgomery County.
