CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – In the pouring rain Thursday, the Combat Veterans Motorcycle Association 18-2 placed American flags for Fort Campbell’s fallen Soldiers since 9/11/2001 at Patriots Park on Fort Campbell Blvd. The flags will be on display for Memorial Day and will be retired on Wednesday, May 27.
Memorial Day is an American holiday, observed on the last Monday of May, honoring the men and women who died while serving in the U.S. military. Originally known as Decoration Day, it originated in the years following the Civil War and became an official federal holiday in 1971.
