CLARKSVILLE, TN – As military families across the country navigate the challenges of deployments and extended military assignments, Cohen Veterans Network (CVN), a global not-for-profit integrated network of mental health clinics for post-9/11 veterans, service members and their families, has launched a new Military Family Deployment Support Resource. The free online tool provides expert guidance and practical resources for families preparing for deployment, managing time apart and adjusting during reintegration.
More than 2.6 million military families live across the United States. For many military families, deployments, training exercises and other periods of separation can bring significant emotional and practical challenges, from managing increased responsibilities at home to adjusting family routines and roles. Research shows that deployments are consistently identified as one of the most stressful aspects of military life for service members and spouses alike.
“Deployments can place significant demands on military families and often result in uncertainty and stress,” said Dr. Anthony Hassan, president and CEO of Cohen Veterans Network. “From preparing for separation to reconnecting after a deployment ends, each stage brings unique challenges. To help families along the way, we’ve developed this resource, so they feel better informed, prepared and supported.”
Built to address the wide range of challenges military families may face throughout the deployment cycle, the tool offers expert-informed guidance and resources on preparing children for separation, staying connected during periods apart, managing stress and navigating reintegration when a service member returns home.
For families seeking additional support, CVN offers high-quality, accessible mental health care through its 23 Cohen Clinics, including The Steven A. Cohen Military Family Clinic at Centerstone in Clarksville. CVN treats a wide variety of mental health concerns, including depression, anxiety, military transition challenges, anger, PTSD, grief and loss, family issues, relationship problems, and children’s behavioral problems. Therapy options include individual, couples, family, and group sessions. Care is available in-person and via CVN Telehealth, face-to-face video therapy. Since its inception in 2016, the network has treated over 106,000 clients and delivered over 953,000 clinical sessions.
