CLARKSVILLE, TN – The Clarksville-Montgomery County School System has made the following administrative appointments.
Michael Cumberledge has been selected as the District Programs and Activities Coordinator, replacing John Miller, who is retiring after 26 years of service in CMCSS. Cumberledge currently serves as assistant principal and Athletic Director at New Providence Middle School. He previously served as an assistant principal at Jo Byrns High School in Robertson County Schools and as a Student Support Coordinator and Assistant Athletic Director at Kenwood High School. Since beginning his career in education in 2009, he has served as a physical education teacher, athletic administrator, and school leader. Cumberledge is a Registered Athletic Administrator through the NIAAA/TIAAA and has completed McREL Balanced Leadership training. Cumberledge earned his Ed.S. in Accountability and Instructional Leadership from Trevecca Nazarene University, M.S. in Sports Management from California University of Pennsylvania, and B.S. in Physical Education and Health Education from West Virginia University.

Barrett Younghans has been selected as an assistant principal at New Providence Middle School. Younghans currently serves as a seventh-grade world history teacher at Northeast Middle School. Prior to joining CMCSS, he taught at the middle and high school levels in Maryland, Virginia, and Indiana, serving in a variety of leadership roles, including Professional Learning Community Leader, National Honor Society sponsor, and Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) program leader. He has extensive experience teaching Advanced Placement, honors, and International Baccalaureate courses, and he has served as a varsity head coach for baseball and swim. Younghans earned his M.A. in Educational Leadership and Administration from George Washington University and his B.A. in History and Secondary Education from Valparaiso University.

Julie Walker has been selected as an assistant principal at Norman Smith Elementary School. Walker currently serves as an Academic Coach at Barksdale Elementary School and previously served in the same role at Rossview Elementary School. She has two decades of experience in education and has taught first, third, and fourth grades. Walker has served in numerous instructional leadership roles, including Lead Teacher, PLC Facilitator, and Summer School Administrator, and she is a graduate of the CMCSS Aspiring Administrator Academy. She was named Barksdale Elementary School Teacher of the Year in 2019. Walker earned her M.A. in Educational Leadership Studies from Austin Peay State University, M.A. in Education from Bethel University, and B.S. in Multidisciplinary Studies from Tennessee Technological University.

Christopher Benne has been selected as an assistant principal at Northwest High School. Benne currently serves as a social studies teacher at Northwest High School, where he has taught since 2016. He previously taught at Forrest School in Chapel Hill, TN, and West Creek Middle School. During his career, Benne has served in numerous leadership roles, including CMCSS Lead Teacher, Assistant Athletic Director, Community Engagement Committee Chair, Continuous Improvement Team member, and College and Career Readiness Committee member, and he completed the CMCSS Leadership Academy. He has earned multiple Level 5 teacher designations and has led athletic programs to district, regional, and state-level success, receiving multiple Coach of the Year honors. Benne earned both his M.Ed. in Educational Leadership and his B.A. in Secondary Education-History from the University of Tennessee at Martin
