CLARKSVILLE, TN – The Veterans Lending Group hosted an event in Clarksville which several hundred veterans, both new and old, attended. American Legion CSM Gary W. Crisp Post 289 featured Veterans Service Officer John Black along with several other Legion officers who met with veterans, retained new members, and provided valuable information to active duty soldiers.
“Command Sergeant Major (R) John Troxell was the guest speaker for this event. John has a tremendous record of more than 37 years of uniformed service to the Armed Forces,” said Carmen Cherry, Commander Post 289.
Troxell presented retired Somalia combat veteran and American Legion Post 289 Vice Commander (First Sergeant) Ernest Schmidt with one of his valued signed entrenching tools. While on active duty, Troxell came under fire for his remarks about using his entrenching tool to kill ISIS. He said, “When it’s time to kill the enemy, use what you got! It could mean dropping bombs on them, shooting them in the face, or beating them to death with our entrenching tools.”
He is also the current brand ambassador for Veteran’s Lending Group nationwide. These events gave him the opportunity to speak about several programs such as the USO and the Reboot Recovery programs and services to new audiences, often active-duty military, all across the country.
