CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) Police say a suspect that stole Christmas decorations from Dowdy Financial Group on Madison Street returned most of the items this past weekend.

As ClarksvilleNow reported last week, this was the second year in a row that someone stole holiday decorations from the same location.

The report stated a woman pulled up to the business right after it closed around on Tuesday, Nov. 27 and took about $350 in decorations, including wreathes, garland, and a Christmas tree.

Three days later, the unidentified person can be seen on video surveillance, leaving the decorations on the porch of the business and walking away.

“We were quite surprised when I received a call form my husband who said you’re never going to believe it, but your decoration s are back on the front porch,” said Ladonna Dowdy, owner of Dowdy Financial on Madison Street.

She told ClarksvilleNow she will not proceed with prosecution of the case and hopes the incident will cause the thief reflect on the spirit of Christmas.

“If one thing came out of this it’s that we hope this girl has some glimmer of hope that there are people out there who really care and want better for others and that she will see what the true meaning of Christmas is,” Dowdy said.
