CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – A Clarksville police officer recently stumbled upon an ‘honest’ burglar while on patrol in the city.

According to a report, Sgt. Rodriguez was on patrol April 4 around 2 a.m. when he spotted a man inside the passenger compartment of a Mustang in the parking lot of Best Motors on Fort Campbell Blvd.

When officers approached him to ask what he was doing, his reply was “stealing.”

Police have accused the man, 47-year-old Kenneth Darby, of breaking into several vehicles and causing thousands of dollars in damage. They also believe he tried to hot-wire some of the vehicles.

Darby also had outstanding warrants at the time of his arrest.

He was charged with aggravated burglary, vandalism, domestic assault, DUI, possession of burglary tools, and five counts of vehicle burglary. His bond was set at $110,000.
