CLARKSVILLE, TN – The Alzheimer’s Association is inviting Clarksville-area businesses and artists to participate in “Paint the Town Purple,” a community awareness campaign scheduled for June 4-10.
The initiative encourages local businesses to decorate storefronts with purple lights, signs and displays in support of Alzheimer’s awareness. Organizers said ribbons, posters and other promotional materials will be provided free of charge to participating businesses.
Businesses are also encouraged to support the campaign through fundraising efforts, including donating a portion of proceeds from food, beverages or specialty items during the week or throughout the month.
In addition, local artists will be available to paint business windows and doors with washable paint ahead of the event. Painting sessions are scheduled for May 29 through June 3, with weekend hours from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and weekday hours beginning at 5:30 p.m. Businesses may submit specific design ideas, and all painting supplies will be provided.
Organizers said the best-decorated storefront will receive a plaque from the Alzheimer’s Association.
Participating businesses are also encouraged to form teams for the Clarksville Walk to End Alzheimer’s as part of the organization’s fundraising and awareness efforts.
The Alzheimer’s Association is also seeking additional local artists to volunteer for the project and assist with storefront painting throughout the city.
