CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – One lucky owl met a new friend Thursday. The injured animal was rescued by Captain Scott Thornton with Clarksville Police Department.

Capt Thornton was headed to work Thursday morning when he came across an injured owl on Salem Road. It was sitting in the middle of the road and unable to fly.
As Capt Thornton stopped to help, the owl managed to limp its way off the road into the wood line. Despite the potential hazard in dealing with a hurt animal, Capt Thornton went into the wood line.

He picked up the wild animal, which had an injured wing, and placed it in a box. He then transported it to Animal Hospital of Clarksville. Dr Howard did not hesitate and offered to help.
Dr Howard took the owl to Dover to be to be picked up by a Raptor Rescue in Paris, TN where it will be nursed back to health.
