CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – After dropping their first-ever state tournament match to Science Hill earlier this week, in the consolation bracket, the Clarksville High Wildcats won three straight matches in two days to earn third place in the TSSAA Class 3A state tournament.

On Wednesday afternoon, Clarksville High defeated Siegel High in four sets, 3-1, to keep their season alive. The match also marked senior Keira Garinger reaching 1,000 career kills. The next morning, the Wildcats defeated Blackman 3-1 on their home floor to advance to the third-place game against the Arlington Tigers.

During the battle for third place, Arlington took a two-set-to-one lead heading into the fourth. However, Clarksville High battled back, winning the fourth set 25-23, then winning the fifth 15-10 to secure the third-place title in their first state tournament appearance in program history.

“Feels amazing and very surreal,” said Wildcats head coach Glen Fox. “It just is a reward for how hard the girls have worked all summer and into the season to get to that point and then have the hard work pay off. They have been a never quit team all year and when we got down two to one and that fourth set, I didn’t see quit in their eyes and they just battle back and it was very impressive and rewarding as their coach.

The Wildcats finish the season with the most wins of any team in class 3A.
