CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – Clarksville High sophomore first baseman McKenzie White has been named Clarksville Now Player of the Week following her performance in the Wildcats’ games during the week of March 30, which included hitting seven home runs.
White, a Clarksville Now All-Area team selection as a freshman, hit more than one home run per contest during the past week for the Wildcats. In addition, she also compiled a batting average of .706 with 12 total hits, including one triple.
White’s performance translated to wins as well, as Clarksville High picked up five wins throughout the week. Her on-base percentage was even higher than her batting average as well, as it sat at .850.
“Kenzie has been a huge part of our offense all year long,” Wildcats head coach Brian Rush told Clarksville Now.
“She bats in the lead-off spot, so her job is to ignite the offense, and she has done that well throughout the season. This past week, she was laser-focused on making contact, and she saw the ball well.”
Clarksville High softball currently has a record of 22-13 up to this point in the season, and their next game is scheduled for Thursday, April 9, as they are set to host Northeast High School. First pitch is expected around 5:30 p.m.
