CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – Clarksville High junior running back and linebacker Ahvare Galbreath has been named Clarksville Now’s Player of the Week following his performance in the Wildcats’ 35-14 win over John Overton in a region matchup. Galbreath had 16 carries for 105 yards and two touchdowns, while also adding six tackles and half a sack on defense.
“Ahvare is a really tough kid,” said Wildcats head coach Isaac Shelby. He’s a very smart athlete and can play multiple positions on offense because of it. Defensively, he’s physical, tough, and isn’t afraid of contact.”

Galbreath has been a big part of the two-game winning streak for the Wildcats, as he also had 10 carries for 94 yards and a touchdown and five tackles against Rossview the week prior. Galbreath and his squad will look to have a winning record for the first time this fall when the Wildcats face McGavock on Friday night.
“Being named Player of the Week is an incredible honor,” said Galbreath. “All the hard work and dedication really paid off, and it feels amazing to be recognized. It motivates me to keep improving and give even more for my team. When I step on the field I always remember this quote for Jerry Rice, he says: “I was not the fastest or biggest player but I was determined to be the best football player I could be on the football field and I think I was able to accomplish that through hard work.” I’m pushing myself for greatness everyday.”
