Clarksville High hires first new boys’ basketball coach in over 30 years

Clarksville High Athletic Director Shannon Cummings has announced the much-anticipated replacement to Ted Young, which will be the first new head boys' basketball coach in over 30 years.

CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – Clarksville High Athletic Director Shannon Cummings has announced that Charles Clark will be the much-anticipated replacement to Ted Young, which will be the first new head boys’ basketball coach in over 30 years.

Clark has been the head girls’ basketball coach at Clarksville Academy since 2020, and he was hired at CA after being the head coach at Kenwood from 2018-20.

Over the last five years at Clarksville Academy, Clark tallied 107 wins and made numerous runs in the postseason. Clark will now take over the oldest program in Clarksville and compete on the public-school side of things.

“We are excited to begin the next chapter in our program’s rich history and proud tradition,” said Cummings on Friday.
