CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – The Clarksville Civitan Club hosted their 2024 Public Safety Awards on Wednesday, recognizing Clarksville-Montgomery County law enforcement, firefighters and emergency medical personnel. Each of the honorees was recognized individually. Donna Sabash with Clarksville Civitan read information submitted by their superiors on each person being honored.
“As a civic organization, we think it’s very important to recognize our citizens who are actually putting their lives on the line in service to our community. Those are the top citizens, the people with servant’s hearts,” Sabash said.
Clarksville Police Officer Josha Spain was recognized for his service after he was shot in the ankle during a kidnapping and aggravated assault incident in Clarksville on Aug. 15, 2023.
Montgomery County Sheriff’s Deputy Michael Larson was recognized for his actions during a a shooting on April 11, 2023. Larson assisted in saving the life of a shooting victim while maintaining control on the shooting suspect.
Captain Willie Keene was recognized as Clarksville Fire Rescue Firefighter of the Year for his dedicated service and work as a fire prevention officer, qualified fire inspector, as well as a fire investigator.
Dr. Carrie Brennan was recognized as the Firefighter of the Year for the Montgomery County Fire Service. Brennan is a professor of chemistry at Austin Peay State University who has used her knowledge and experience to support the work of the Montgomery County Fire Service.
Paramedic Susan Coghill was recognized as a member of the Montgomery County Emergency Medical Service for her unwavering commitment to excellence and compassionate service since 2000.
