Clarksville, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – The Clarksville Christian Centurions faced the Christian Community Colts in the TSIAA softball semifinals at Rich Ellen Park on Wednesday afternoon. The Centurions offense exploded for a 16 hit night, earning them a 12-2 win, advancing them to their second straight TSIAA title game.

“I am very proud of the program we are building,” said Centurions head coach Travis Cocke. “Getting back to the TSIAA state championship game after losing 6 starters from last season was not an easy task. Every single player, parent, coach, and CCS administrator bought in 11 months ago, and we have earned the right to represent Clarksville-Montgomery County once again on the big stage. This is the beginning of something very special, and I am honored to be a part of it.”

Scoring was hard to find at first, with Clarksville Christian only scoring one run in the first two innings. The bottom of the third inning proved fruitful, as the Clarksville area team scored five runs to expand on their lead. The offense was highlighted by Bella Mansfield’s 4 RBI’s on 3 hits.

Clarksville Christian also got it done defensively, with Mansfield only allowing one hit in a three-inning start. Then, in relief, Avah Sams was just as dominate as she allowed 0 hits and 0 runs, while striking out 4 across two innings. The offense added a few insurance runs to eventually win the game 12-2 win.

Now, the Centurions will play for a state title in a rematch of last year’s championship game at Zion Christian Academy at 11 a.m. on Saturday. This year, they’re headed to Zion Christian with revenge on their minds and hoping for a different outcome.
