CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – (ESPN CLARKSVILLE) It’s been a long two weeks for Clarksville Academy football. The Cougars dropped their opening game 13-12 two weeks ago to Harpeth, then were on a bye week last week.
In not the most desired elements, the Cougars picked up week three with an unfamiliar opponent, Zion Christian in a Division 2 A regional game.
In a constant steady rain, Clarksville Academy would keep it close during the first half trailing Zion Christian 14-7, but came out the second half a different team. Known to throw the ball, CA took a different approach. Robinson added two more scores on the ground, and sophomore running back Landry Forte would carry the ball 26 times and accumulate 226 yards on the ground and adding three scores.
Robinson and Forte would combine for 358 yards on the ground and 6 touchdowns.
“We knew throwing the ball be tough with the rain, and we were running the ball well, so we went with it. The OLine played great and Landry had a huge game for us. Proud of my teammates.” said CLarksville Academy QB Bryce Robinson.
This marks the first win of the JD Sellars era also, who took over as the head coach this past spring.
The Cougars travel to west Tennessee next Friday for another regional match up with Rossville Academy.
