CLARKSVILLE, Tenn.- (CLARKSVILLENOW) The Clarksville Academy boys and girls varsity golf teams competed in the Division II Class A Middle Tennessee District 2 Regional golf tournament at River Bend Country Club in Shelbyville on Monday.

The Lady Cougars continued their stellar play at the region being led by a 4th place finish from Hunter Farrell and a 5th place finish by Michaela Dowdy. The Lady Cougars score of 170 put them in 2nd place behind the Region Champion Franklin Road Academy. With the second-place finish, the girls will make their 5th straight trip to the TSSAA State Tournament October 9th and 10th at Willowbrook Golf course in Manchester, Tn.

On the Boys side, Patton Samuels led the Cougars to a 2nd place finish firing a 1 over par 73 and finishing tied for second in the tournament. Wyatt Samuels continued to play great golf finishing tied for 5th shooting 75. The boys team combined for a score of 316 for the tournament and finished 7 strokes behind University School of Nashville. Samuel Nicholson shot 82, Taylor Norris 86 and Bryson Batson 94 to complete the team score for Clarksville Academy. With their 2nd place finish, the Boys will be making their first state tournament appearance. They will join the girls at Willowbrook next Monday and Tuesday competing for the state title.
