CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – At their meeting Thursday, Mayor Kim McMillan and the Clarksville City Council honord four members of Clarksville Fire Rescue for their heroism in saving the life of a woman who was seriously injured in a mobile home fire.

In the early morning of April 9, Lieutenant Billy Castle, Michael Rios, Richard Cayce and Jobe Moore responded to the fire at 1840 Evans Road. In spite of the flames and the intense heat the men entered the mobile home and were able to locate the victim and carry her to safety.

Clarksville Fire Rescue Chief Mike Roberts talked about the heroic actions of the men. “If you ask them they’ll say they were just doing their job but the actions that they took that night were heroic. The best part about it is we have a citizen that was saved and is on the road to a full and healthy recovery,” said Roberts.

After a sometimes heated debate at their session Thursday, the Clarksville City Council passed a resolution for an addendum to pay for a sidewalk and upgraded lighting at the new Liberty Park Grill, under construction near the Clarksville Marina.

The resolution calls for the lighting in the parking lot and the roadway leading up to the restaurant to match the lighting already in the park and for construction of a sidewalk from the Liberty Park Grill to near the marina.

The cost of the lighting at just over $75,000 and the unknown cost for the sidewalk was the sticking points for some council members. There were a number of amendments to the resolution offered by council members that failed before the original resolution passed 7-5. At this time Liberty Park Grill is still on track to open by Memorial Day.
