CLARKSVILLE, Tenn.- Carry The Fallen is a 3-day ruck-march relay event in which teams ruck-march while carrying weight that symbolizes the burden that many veterans carry post-trauma.

The ultimate purpose of Carry The Fallen is to reduce veteran suicide and assist Military Families. Any money raised by Carry the Fallen benefits Active Heroes. Active Heroes is a 501c3 charity with the mission to support all U.S. military service members, veterans and their families through physical, educational, and emotional programs in an effort to eliminate suicide.

The ruck will begin on March 30 at 4 p.m. at Oak Grove War Memorial Walking Trail Park, 498 Walter Garrett Ln, Oak Grove, KY. The ruck will end outside Fort Knox Wilson Gate on April 2, 2017. Participants can hike for the entire 139 miles, or walk just a portion.

Terrain during portions of the ruck might be on roadways and traffic can be present. Children are allowed to the event but please keep an eye on them for safety. Bathroom breaks are generally planned but keep in mind that team leaders are working to keep everyone together to accomplish the long distance event, so stops won’t be frequent unless medical emergencies happen.

Flashing lights or reflectors belts are encouraged for early morning hiking or night time events. Bring plenty of water, sports drinks with no excess sodium, first aid kit and energy snacks.
