CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – Carol Berry has announced her candidacy for re-election to the Clarksville-Montgomery County School System Board of Education, District 1.

Berry grew up in Lafayette, Alabama, where she graduated from public school with honors. She went on to earn her Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education with a minor in English/Language Arts from Texas College in Tyler, Texas. Later, she completed her Master of Education Degree from Drury University in Springfield, Missouri, graduating Summa Cum Laude.

She has taught in several schools – in Missouri, with the Department of Defense in Germany, then to Texas, and then to CMCSS before she retired. Over the years, she taught K-8th grades, guided student teachers and taught college-level courses.

She has supported several causes including St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, organizations that provide low-income housing, drug and alcohol rehabilitation programs, the Teacher Warehouse, Toys for Tots and the FUEL program.

She has been a member of several organizations, including a Tennessee Level V board member, TSBA Board Member of the Year, Rotary International, life member of the National Education Association, Tennessee Retired Teachers, AARP, Women’s Missionary Union and DAV.

“As a dedicated lifelong educator and a passionate advocate for public schools, I’m bringing years of professional experience to this role,” Berry said. “I truly believe that strong, accessible education is the foundation for individual growth and the overall well-being of our families, community, and even our nation. An informed and engaged community is essential for a thriving democracy, and I see public education as the backbone of America’s prosperity in the global economy.”

She and her husband, retired Chaplain Ronny Berry, have a daughter, Caronda Rasin, and three granddaughters: Ajayla, Alison and Ava.
