Carl Edward Smith departed this life on Thursday, August 1, 2013.

He was born in 1938 in Caldwell County, Princeton, KY. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Vicki Smith; his parents, Ben J. Smith and Zora Smith Haddock; two sisters, Bennie Crockett and Gwen Rustin, and a brother Alfred Smith.

He was a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church, a retired U.S. Army Chief Warrant Officer 3. Carl was a decorated Vietnam Veteran with a Purple Heart. He was an instructor at Embry Riddle Aeronautical University and retired from Venture Industries of Hopkinsville, KY.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Wanda Sue (Susan) Smith; son, Steven (Lynn) Smith; grandson, Tyler Smith and step-grandson, Garrett Allen, all of Clarksville; one sister, Patricia (Eddy) Haddock, Hopkinsville, KY. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Monday, August 5, 2013 at 11 a.m., at Neal-Tarpley-Parchman chapel, Rev. Larry Mullberry officiating and assisted by Rev. Jeff Haddock. Burial will follow at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery West, Hopkinsville, KY with full military honors. Visitation will be Sunday, August 4, 2013 from 2-4 p.m. and from 10 a.m. until the hour of the service on Monday.

Pallbearers will be military. Honary Pallbearers are Ron Ramsey, Dennie Neal, John Bailey, Timm Johnson, Kenn Johnson and Marvin Hines.
