CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – Two soldiers recently made a little boy’s day in Clarksville.

WKRN News 2 reports that Carol Ashford shared the sweet story about her grandson, Reed, with News 2 via the iReport2 Network on Monday.

Reed, 3, was running errands with his mother when they decided to stop and grab something to eat at a local McDonald’s.

The little boy immediately noticed two soldiers because he always loves to see them out and about.

After saying hi and getting a “big hi” back, Reed saluted the men. His mom said the soldiers “ate it up.”

As the mother and son were leaving the restaurant, the soldiers called the boy to their table and gave him the wings right off their uniforms.

“Here little buddy, we want you to have our wings,” one of the men told Reed.

His mother said he held the wings all the way home, smiling the entire time.
