CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – (Clarksvillenow.com) ESPN Clarksville and Bojangles are featuring two student-athletes as the Bojangles APSU Athlete of the Week from Austin Peay State University. APSU tennis is featured with Lidia Yanes Garcia and Breigh Jones who is a track and field athlete.

Garcia was the first women’s tennis player in Ohio Valley Conference history to be named Player of the Year and Freshman of the Year in the same season as well as being named APSU’s Outstanding Female Athlete.

This past season, Garcia’s nine conference wins led all Austin Peay players while compiling a 13-3 overall singles record in her first year as a Governor. She also grabbed four doubles wins while teaming with fellow freshman Helen Kuppig.

Breigh-Jones

Track and field athlete Breigh Jones has made a trio of NCAA appearances as well as being an OVC Scholar-Athlete. She was also selected as the Female Legends Award recipient as the most valuable women’s senior athlete.

Jones has become one of the most decorated sprinters in Austin Peay history, reaching at least the preliminary stage of the NCAA Championships in each of her first three seasons, including a 20th-place national finish in the 400m dash in 2014.
