COLUMBUS, Ohio (CLARKSVILLENOW) – A major pharmaceutical company recalls birth control pills due to packaging error that could lead to unplanned pregnancies.

Lupin Pharmaceuticals recently announced a recall of Mibelas 24 Fe tablets due to a packaging error that makes the lot number and expiration date no longer visible.

The mix-up would leave woman taking placebos for four days instead of active tablets.

The pills are packaged in what are known as “blister packs,” that contain 28 tablets that were sold nationwide.

Lupin is notifying its distributors and consumers by letter instructing return of all recalled products. Those with recalled pills should notify their physician and return them to the place of purchase.
