CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – Local attorney, Jill Bartee Ayers was sworn in as the first Circuit Court Judge for Division 4 of the 19th Judicial District in a ceremony Friday, October 30 at the Montgomery County Courts Center. Bartee Ayers was given the oath of office by Tennessee Court of Criminal Appeals Judge Robert Wedemeyer who said he thought she will make an outstanding judge.
Bartee Ayers, who was appointed to the post by Tennessee Governor Bill Haslam, has been practicing law with Batson Nolan PLC since 1993 and has also served as board attorney for the Clarksville-Montgomery County School System. Bartee Ayers is a long standing member of the Montgomery County and the American Bar Associations.
Along with her professional credentials, Bartee Ayers is also a very active member of the community and has a place on many boards and committees involving public service as well as being a past recipient of the Athena Award which is equal to Clarksville’s woman of the year.
After the ceremony, Bartee Ayers talked about her new position. “It’s exciting, it’s a new opportunity and i’m really excited mostly for the people of Robertson and Montgomery Counties to have this new division to open up so we can better serve all of the people in our judicial district.
