CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – It was a milestone semester in the classroom for Austin Peay State University’s athletics department as its 328 student-athletes combined for a record 3.022 grade-point average during the Fall 2015 Semester.
The department saw a record 202 student-athletes named to the Athletics Director’s Honor Roll with at least a 3.0 GPA during the semester. In addition, a record 113 student-athletes were named to the Austin Peay Dean’s List with at least a 3.5 GPA. It is the first time in department history more than 200 student-athletes were named to the AD’s honor roll and more than 100 student-athletes received Dean’s List recognition.

In addition, 36 Austin Peay student-athletes posted an unblemished 4.0 GPA during the fall, receiving Austin Peay President’s List recognition. It is only the third time since Fall 1993 Austin Peay has posted a 3.0 GPA during a semester. It is the first time since both semesters of the 2008-09 academic year Austin Peay student-athletes have reached the milestone.
Thirteen of the athletics department’s 16 teams finished the semester with a 3.0 team grade-point average. Women’s Tennis led the way with an impressive 3.708 GPA. The Governors men’s tennis team led all men’s programs with a 3.173 GPA.
Also posting 3.0 team GPAs during the fall semester were women’s golf (3.532), women’s soccer (3.420), women’s basketball (3.377), women’s volleyball (3.354), softball (3.146), dance (3.276), women’s cross country (3.273), women’s track and field (3.233), men’s golf (3.129), men’s cross country (3.069) and baseball (3.012).
Established in 1990-91, the Athletics Director’s Honor Roll recognizes the outstanding academic accomplishments of Austin Peay State University student-athletes. To earn recognition student-athletes must achieve at least a 3.0 grade-point average for a semester.
