CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – The Austin Peay men’s basketball team had a special 2025-26 season that we will remember for years to come. The team secured its most wins in a season since 2018-19 and won its first regular-season title in almost 20 years.

However, the team is undergoing some big changes this offseason, as is the case for most college programs. Standout players like Anton Brookshire and Collin Parker are out of eligibility, while former ASUN Freshman of the Year Tate McCubbin opted to enter the transfer portal. As a result, the roster is going to look much different in 2026-27, so let’s go ahead to what we know so far.

Govs roster: Who’s in and who’s out?

Whether it be due to eligibility or the portal, only two Govs from the 2025-26 roster are returning: Rashaud Marshall and Zyree Collins. The good news is, Marshall and Collins were arguably the two most important players last season, and the incoming crop of talent is impressive.

OUT: Tate McCubbin (transfer), Tyler Wagner (transfer), Matt Enright (out of eligibility), Creighton Morisch (out of eligibility), Terrell Gaines (transfer), Anton Brookshire (out of eligibility), Quan Lax (transfer), Travis Torain (transfer), Ja’Corey Robinson (transfer), Collin Parker (out of eligibility).

IN: Rashaud Marshall (retained), Zyree Collins (retained), Shamarrie Hugie (transfer from Marshall), Bradley Floyd (freshman), Cameron Ryans (freshman), Talon Todd (freshman), P.J. Singleton (freshman), Alex Davis (freshman), Traymaine Belanger (freshman), Felipe Minzer (Argentina), Birkir Eythorsson (Iceland)

Of the players no longer on the roster, three stand out as the biggest losses: Parker, Brookshire and McCubbin. Parker led the team in scoring for much of the 2025-26 season and had multiple 30-point performances. Brookshire was an invaluable locker room presence and role player, while McCubbin was a solid starter who averaged just under 10 points per game.

As for the returners, it can’t be overstated how huge it is to keep both Marshall and Collins. Marshall turned into the most dominant player on the court by the end of last season, and Collins was among the best freshman point guards in the country.

2026-27 recruiting class has Govs in good shape

As for the incoming freshmen, the Govs are in a good spot. Cameron Ryans is the No. 1 high school player in the state of Michigan and won Gatorade Player of the Year honors. Ryans is the first Gatorade Player of the Year winner to commit to Austin Peay.

Bradley Floyd, Talon Todd and Traymaine Belanger are all rated as three-star recruits by 247Sports. Felipe Minzer and Birkir Eythorsson are among the top recruits out of Argentina and Iceland, respectively. Meanwhile, Alex Davis is a teammate of Belanger who should be solid depth behind Marshall, and Singleton is a combo guard who starred for Canarsie High School in Brooklyn, NY.

Shamarrie Hugie is the lone transfer portal addition to this point. Hugie played for the Marshall Thundering Herd in 2025-26 after dominating at the JUCO level the two previous seasons. Hugie is another wing scorer who dropped 19 points in Marshall’s final game of the season.
