BRENTWOOD, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – On Sunday, Austin Peay kicker Logan Birchfield received Ohio Valley Conference Specialist of the Week honors for the second time in his collegiate career.
The Elizabethton native was responsible for 10 of the Governors 16 points—three field goals and a PAT—on Saturday, coming in a 24-16 home loss to 18th-ranked Central Arkansas.
Birchfield connected from 39, 32 and 27 yards out, becoming the first Gov since Stephen Stansell in 2011 to record three or more field goals in a single game.
Two weeks into the season, Birchfield currently leads the OVC in total scoring with 21 points, with a total of five made field goals and an 83.3 percent field-goal percentage.
Birchfield became the first player from Austin Peay to bring home a weekly award from the league office in 2019.
The Governor kicker will look to continue his hot start to the season, as Austin Peay travels to take on Mercer Saturday, Sept. 14 in Macon, Georgia.
