Athlete of the Week, Jessica Elery

CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – Congratulations is going out to Jessica Elery from Northwest High School, the Lanier Lawn and Landscaping Athlete of the Week. Elery, a sophomore, is a wrestler at Northwest who is the women’s wrestling state champion at 138 lbs.

During her competition Tennessee State referees voted her the Most Outstanding Wrestler in the girl’s state tournament, the highest individual honor. She earned her success while keeping a 3.8 GPA in honors classes while maintaining a rigorous workout schedule all year.

Elery’s mother often takes off work from her two jobs to come to her wrestling matches. That dedication and example clearly shows in the young athlete. She has also been honored at the school’s most valuable wrestler and maintains a position as a team captain, even with her male counterparts.
